Environmental Sensing Instruments

The Smart Sensor was developed for the mining industry to meet specific requirements where various gasses need to be monitored at specific locations.

The unit is unique in design and mainly feature:

• Localised display of sensor information
• The cluster can easily be connected to a Fire Detection system with reporting and display on SCADA
• EXia T4 Intrinsically Safe Certification available
  

 

Smart Sensor

The unit allows for various sensors at a single point of installation.
These sensors would typically include:

- Flammable gasses, i.e. CH4 for both pilaster and IR sensors

- Combustible gasses, i.e. CO, H2S, NO etc.

- Other sensors with analogue outputs, i.e. Air velocity sensors or smoke detectors

A unique feature of the SENSOR is the modular design and subsequent ease of repair and calibration:

During failure of the sensor, only the sensor unit can be removed from the main controller without opening the main enclosure and replaced with a new sensor.

Similarly, in the event where calibration of sensors has expired, the sensors can be replaced directly underground with new pre-calibrated sensors.

Sentient Handheld Sensor

The handheld version of Booyco Electronics’  ESI range is able to accommodate up to three “plug and play” sensors, typically CH₄, CO and O₂.

Rated to IP68, the low maintenance Sentient has no buttons. The unit features instead an innovative “tap” sensor which ensures that the instrument remains watertight at all times.

Amongst the unique features of this device is “drop protection” which automatically switches the sensor off as a protective measure if the instrument is dropped, thereby significantly increasing sensor life. The unit has been certified as EXia T4 Intrinsically Safe, and complies with relevant SANS 1515 requirements
